Clarence House has said that Prince Charles has tested positive for the Covid-19 for a second time and is now self-isolating. He also recently met his mother, Queen Elizabeth, but the 95-year-old British Queen is now showing any symptoms.
Prince Charles, 73, the heir to the British throne, had to cancel his attendance at an event in the southwestern English town of Winchester on Thursday, which was being held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Elizabeth becoming Queen.
In a statement on Twitter, Clarence House said that “This morning, The Prince of Wales has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating.”
However, there is no immediate comment on his condition. Prince also met his mother, Queen Elizabeth, according to the sources, but she is not displaying any symptoms and is being monitored.
This is the second time Prince has tested positive for the Coronavirus. He first tested positive in late March 2020.
Moreover, in December, Charles confirmed that he and his wife Camilla were fully vaccinated against the Coronavirus and had also received their booster dose.
Charles said at the time he was first infected that he had been lucky only to experience mild symptoms, adding he’d “got away with it quite easily.”
His positive test comes just hours after he spent the meeting in the evening with dozens of people at the British Museum celebrating the work of the British Asian Trust.
According to worldometers.info, U.K has registered 18,000,119 cases of Coronavirus with 15,596,741 recoveries and 158,953 deaths.
Around 72.4% of the population of the U.K is fully vaccinated, accounting for 4.86Cr people. So far, a total of 13.9Cr doses has been given.
In addition, Prince Charles is the 3rd royal this week to test positive for Covid-19. Before Charles, Spain’s King Felipe VI tested positive on Wednesday morning, and a day earlier, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark also tested positive.
