Daily COVID-19 Updates: Georgia reports 865 new cases, 26 deaths

The Health Ministry of Georgia said that the nation has reported 865 new cases of COVID-19, with 2,820 recoveries and 26 fatalities in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past seven days stands at 15.55 per cent.

Overall, there are currently 42,564 active cases of Coronavirus throughout the country. 

Moreover, as per the figures given by the health authorities of Georgia, a total of 7,733 tests were conducted throughout the country within the last 24 hours, out of which 5,281 were rapid antigen tests, and the remaining 2,452 were PCR tests.

Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,629,930 cases of Coronavirus. Out of 1,629,930 cases of COVID-19, a total of 1,570,884 patients have recovered, while 16,456 people have succumbed to it.

The new 865 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country. 

  • Tbilisi – 430 cases
  • Adjara – 24 cases
  • Imereti – 115 cases
  • Kvemo Kartli – 65 cases
  • Shida Kartli – 46 cases
  • Guria – 65 cases
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 35 cases
  • Kakheti – 57 cases
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 7 cases
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 11 cases
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 10 cases

The new Omicron variant of Coronavirus accounts for about 85% of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

Furthermore, as of today, there are currently 2,045 patients who are undergoing treatment in hospitals, while 40,519 people are undergoing treatment at home and by consulting their family doctors. There are 580 people who are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

A total of 1,352,317 people have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,249,541 individuals have been fully vaccinated, amounting to 43.5 per cent of the country’s adult population.

In total, 226,062 individuals have received booster shots of the vaccine. 

As of today, around 33.6% of the total population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which accounts for 12.5L of people. As of now, approximately 29.1% doses of vaccines have been administered in the country.
