Daily COVID-19 Updates: Georgia reports 368 new cases, 8 deaths

The Health Ministry of Georgia said that the country has reported 368 new cases of COVID-19, with 1,225 recoveries and 8 fatalities in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks stands at 6.61 per cent.

The Health Ministry of Georgia said that the country has reported 368 new cases of COVID-19, with 1,225 recoveries and 8 fatalities in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks stands at 6.61 per cent.

Overall, there are currently 26,034 active cases of Coronavirus all over the country.

As per the Reports, Georgia has the 13th highest Covid mortality rate globally in a week. Armenia comes to 64th and Azerbaijan – 75th.

Moreover, as per the figures given by the Georgian health department, a total of 5,885 tests were conducted all over the country within the last 24 hours, out of which 3,783 were rapid antigen tests, and the remaining 2,102 were PCR tests.

Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,642,242 cases of Coronavirus. Out of 1,642,242 cases of COVID-19, a total of 1,599,511 patients have recovered, while 16,671 people have succumbed to it.

The new 368 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country. 

  • Tbilisi – 193 cases 
  • Adjara – 16 cases 
  • Imereti – 48 cases 
  • Kvemo Kartli – 12 cases 
  • Shida Kartli – 4 cases 
  • Guria – 27 cases 
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 14 cases 
  • Kakheti – 41 cases 
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 6 cases 
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 4 cases 
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 3 cases

The new Omicron variant of Coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country.

Furthermore, there are currently 813 patients who are undergoing treatment in hospitals, while 25,221 people are undergoing treatment at home and by consulting their family doctors. There are 220 people who are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

As many as 1,356,232 people have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,253,736 individuals have been fully vaccinated, amounting to 43.5 % of the country’s adult population.

A total of 232,573 individuals have received booster shots or 3rd dose of the vaccine. 

As of today, around 33.8% of the total population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which accounts for 12.5L of people. Approximately 29.2 L doses of vaccines have been administered in the country.

According to a report released by Health Ministry a few days ago, the daily confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Georgia have declined by 24 times, while the number of hospitalisation cases has decreased by 12 times compared to the data from February in Georgia.
