Georgia: Prosecutor’s office books one person for robbery

The Prosecutor General office of Georgia has charged one person for the offence of robbery. He commits the crime at the Branch of “The Bank of Georgia “ in Senaki.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia filed an indictment against one person for the robbery of the “Bank of Georgia” in Senaki, which is considered a serious crime against society.

It is to be added that the investigation in this regard was carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. After the initial inquiry it was established that on January 26, the defendant, armed with a knife, attacked “Bank of Georgia” employees. The bank employees were carrying out banking operations with the citizens during the time of the incident.

On the occasion the accused Demonstratecd a knife and seized an amount of 900 euros belonging to the citizen. The accused after committing the crime fled from the spot.

After receiving the information the Law enforcement officers arrested the accused on the same day. He was charged under Article 179, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (robbery, committed with the threat of using violence dangerous to life and health) which provides for 5 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The prosecutor’s office applies to the court with a petition for the imposition of imprisonment as a preventive measure for the accused within the term established by law.

It is to be added that the prosecutor’s office has launched many drives against antisocial elements. The office also ensures the successful trials of the accused to award them maximum punishment.

The prosecutor’s office also took part in the sixteen-day campaign against the incidents of domestic violence. This sixteen-day campaign was to highlight the incidents of domestic violence across the country.

Many people who were guilty of domestic violence have been booked for the incident of domestic violence in the past months by the prosecutor’s office as well.
