Thea Tsulukiani holds productive meeting with Gokhan Yazgi  

The Georgian Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, “Thea Tsulukiani”, met the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, Gokhan Yazgi, at the Ministry.

The Georgian Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, “Thea Tsulukiani”, met the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, Gokhan Yazgi, at the Ministry.

Gokhan Yazgi is on an official visit to Georgia with his delegation. The meeting was attended by deputies of Georgian Ministers of Culture, Sports and Youth Nikoloz Aznaurashvili and Koba Khubunaia and Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia Ali Kaan Orbai and representatives of two country ministries.

The purpose of the meeting was between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Turkey.

The Cooperation in the field of culture for the year 2027- Program renewal, which involves promoting the rehabilitation of cultural heritage monuments in both countries through cooperation and participation in various joint projects in theatre, music, choreography, folklore and other art fields.

The Minister stated, “Our meeting was in the background of the best of moods, as it suits two neighboring and friendly countries.” We agreed that we would cooperate closely in various fields of cultural heritage and arts. In addition, I had the opportunity to thank our guest for the most critical work that the Republic of Turkey has done for the rehabilitation and care of several Georgian monuments.”

A number of events are planned during the Turkish delegation’s visit to Georgia, including a visit to the open-air ethnographic museum, the National Gallery and the Golden Fund, as well as a visit to the puppet theatre.

History of the Ministry of Culture

The Ministry was established in 2010 due to restructuring activities within the Georgian government in June 2010. The preceding Ministry of Culture, Monuments Protection and Sports was split into two separate government agencies: Ministry of Sports and Youth and Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection.

The agency was merged with the Ministry of Education and Science in July 2018. The Ministry of Culture, Sport and Youth was separated from the Ministry of Education and Science and re-established as a standalone agency in 2021 by the decree of the prime Minister.
