Waste management plan to develop for Algeti National Park

Georgia: A waste management plan is being developed for Algeti National Park. The waste management plan project was discussed at the working meeting held in Algeti National Park.

The Agency prioritizes managing waste produced in protected areas. Implementing an integrated and effective sustainable waste management system is important to protecting and preserving biodiversity, soil, and natural resources in protected areas.

The waste management plan project for Algeti National Park is being developed within the framework of the grant agreement signed between the governments of Georgia and Sweden, with the financial support of the program “Save Nature—Georgia”. The same program will also be used to develop the waste management plan for 17 protected areas.

The project waste management plan is the protected area’s overall vision for the next ten years. It defines the goals that the Agency of Protected Areas, the Administration of the National Park of Algeti, municipalities, and other government agencies are trying to achieve in the country to promote sustainable waste management.
