The Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Thea Tsulukiani honoured the memory of People’s Artist of Georgia, ‘Tengiz Archvadze.’ He was one of the prominent actors of Georgian theatre and cinema and died on 23 October 2023.
The Georgian Minister honoured his death in front of a vast crowd and sent condolences to his family, colleagues and the whole Georgian society.
The condolences were given during the actor’s funeral, which was held at Didubi Virgin Christmas Cathedral. Their favourite actor of all was buried in the Didube Pantheon.
After graduating from Tbilisi’s Shota Rustaveli Theater Institute, Tengiz Archvadze was an actor in Kote Marjanishvili Theater. He was an actor until the end of his life. In 1967-1973, he also worked in Rustavi Dramatic Theater.
Tengiz Archvadze played more than 100 roles in Georgian theatre and cinema. He made exciting faces in plays:

All the characters he portrayed make a memorable impression on the audience thanks to the actor’s great talent, acting skills, and convincing and sincere emotions.
In 2011, in front of Marjanishvili Theater, a star named after the actor was opened. Tengiz Archvadze was a laureate of Shota Rustaveli, Kote Marjanishvili, Mikheil Tumanishvili, and Akaki Khorava awards, as well as the laureate of the Georgian State Prize, a kavalier of the Order of Honor.
In 2017, he was awarded a special award by the Ministry of Culture – “Art Kurumi”, for his unique contribution to the development of art. The book “People’s Artist – Tengiz Archvadze” was published in the same year and is dedicated to the life and work of the actor.
