“Nikala” is the winning project of the Georgian Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth competition – “Promotion of Young Creative Startups”. With the support of the Ministry, a studio was created, and dioramas were assembled based on “Diorama Production”.
It means that the technology purchased during the competition will help the organization to create other puppet animations.
“Nikala” is the first work of “Diorama Production”. Animation, whose characters are puppets, presents Firosman’s life and work differently. A diorama is a stage layout that allows us to create any kind of environment.
The action is completely adapted to the aesthetics and situation of Tbilisi of the XIX-XX century. Puppet animation, through images, music and ambient sounds, conveys the great artist’s work and his difficult life journey. Film director, cameraman and animator Kote Ninua, producer – Nina Otarashvili, editing director – Ani Jobava.
More than ten dioramas and eight dolls were created to shoot doll animation. The five-minute animation is shot on the principle of “stop motion” (animation with footage). The technique was previously actively used to create Georgian animations, and it allows us to make each detail tangible to present the story differently.
Viewers of “Nikala” will see it on November 5 at the “Amiran” cinema at the Tbilisi International Animation Festival.
The Diorama production is in Pitsunda, Georgia. It is based between Milan and Paris; Diorama specialises in the creation of digital assets for a variet.
