Europe: The President of Russia has once again threatened Europe of completely stopping all the gas supplies to the continent, leaving no option for the Europeans but to freeze with the winter being around the corner. The citizens of Europe have already been facing a lot of financial strain, owing to limited availability and skyrocketing prices of energy, all at once.

Already, the Russian pipeline Nord Stream 1 , which supplies gas to Europe, has been shut down for an indefinite period, with maintenance and repairs being stated as the reason for the same. This has further added to the vulnerability of Europe, which relies heavily upon Russia for gas supplies.

At the same time, the European Union’s proposals to implement price caps on Russian energy imports has had the business leaders in Vladivostok decide on further ripping up existing supply contracts.

“Will there be any political decisions that contradict the contracts? Yes, we just won’t be fulfilling any of them. We will not supply anything at all if it contradicts our interests,” Putin said at the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia’s far east.

Russia won’t supply gas, oil, heating oil, coal- We will not supply anything, said Putin.

The Russian giant Gazprom has clearly stated that the sanctions that have been imposed on Russia by the western nations to be the actual reason behind the shut down of the gas pipelines. Further stating, it said that things could be restored back to normal if sanctions are lifted.

Meanwhile, the threats from the Russian President Vladimir Putin have increased the risk of having o resort to rationing of the energy. EU has already been looking to reduce their consumption of gas by 15%
.
Though, a number of European governments have announced various measures to safeguard the citizens from receiving high energy bills.
