Daily COVID-19 Updates: Georgia reports 74 new cases, one death

Georgia: The Georgian Health Ministry said that the country has reported 74 new cases of COVID-19, with 357 recoveries and one fatality in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks stands at 1.44 per cent.

There are currently 1,986 active cases of Coronavirus all over the country. 

Moreover, as per the figures given by the Georgian health department, a total of 4,970 tests were conducted throughout the country within the last 24 hours, out of which 3,436 were rapid antigen tests, and the remaining 1,534 were PCR tests.

Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,653,118 cases of Coronavirus. Out of which, 1,634,313 patients have recovered, while 16,793 people have succumbed to it.

The new 74 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country. 

  • Tbilisi – 42 cases
  • Adjara – 5 cases
  • Imereti – 7 cases
  • Kvemo Kartli – 0 cases
  • Shida Kartli – 1 cases
  • Guria – 4 cases
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 8 cases
  • Kakheti – 4 cases
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 2 cases
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 1 cases
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 0 cases

As of today, around 33.9% of the population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated, accounting for 12.6 L individuals. The country has administered approximately 29.5 L doses of anti-coronavirus vaccines.

Irakli Garibashvili, Georgian Premier, stated a few days ago that the present epidemiological situation signalled the end of the nation’s crisis, stressing that the government’s decision to prohibit the usage of green permits in February as part of effective management, as a consequence of which “everything stabilised.”
