Georgian citizens with deficient professions defined by Hungarian govt will have opportunity to find employment in Hungary

The Hungarian government included Georgia in the list of countries whose citizens will have the opportunity to obtain a work permit in Hungary in a simplified manner for a specified period of time. It was announced at the meeting of the foreign ministers of Georgia and Hungary, which was held in the framework of the working visit of Ilia Darchiashvili to Budapest.

The Hungarian government included Georgia in the list of countries whose citizens will have the opportunity to obtain a work permit in Hungary in a simplified manner for a specified period of time. It was announced at the meeting of the foreign ministers of Georgia and Hungary, which was held in the framework of the working visit of Ilia Darchiashvili to Budapest.

“I am glad that introducing a simplified employment mechanism for Georgian citizens in the most demanding sectors of Hungary is one of the main topics of our bilateral agenda. I thank the Hungarian partners for their readiness to include Georgia in the list of countries that benefit from the mentioned simplified procedures. This fact is another clear confirmation of Hungary’s unwavering support for our country,” Ilia Darchiashvili said at the joint press conference.

The ministers agreed that the parties will additionally work towards the implementation of the mentioned decision of the Hungarian government.



The meeting of ministers also discussed fruitful cooperation between Georgia and Hungary in various fields, including economy, tourism, education, and people-to-people relations. According to him, the positive dynamics of the existing economic and trade relations between the two countries was marked with satisfaction, which has increased significantly in recent years. The ministers agreed to hold an intergovernmental economic commission by the end of the year, which will open additional opportunities in this direction.

Emphasis was also placed on deepening cooperation in the direction of tourism. In this context, the importance of increasing the number of flights from Kutaisi airport by Wizz Air was mentioned.

According to the head of the Foreign Ministry, during the meeting with the Hungarian counterpart, a significant part of the conversation was devoted to the European integration process of Georgia.



“Recognition of the European perspective of Georgia is a historical fact by which the European Union confirmed that Georgia is a European state and it will become a member of the European Union. This is the recognition of the progress achieved over the years and the high level of integration that exists today between Georgia and the European Union,” Ilia Darchiashvili said.

He thanked Peter Sjaarto for Hungary’s strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

The conversation touched on the exchange of high-level visits and work in this direction. The ministers also welcomed the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries.

On July 29, 2022, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, visited Hungary on an official visit. Within the framework of the visit, Ilia Darchiashvili held a meeting with his Hungarian colleague, Peter Sijartos, and Minister of the Cabinet of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Gergeli Gulias.
