Tbilisi: The Georgian culture minister, Tea Tsulukiani, has responded to recent comments from the Ukrainian President’s advisor Aleksey Arestovich, who said that Ukraine would have to save and free Georgians. The culture minister stated that Ukrainian officials to look for their citizens, who are going through the most complicated phase currently.
“I do not know whether Arestovich deserves a diplomatic-cultural answer or a slightly different answer; it is better for those high-ranking officials of Ukraine, who are engaged in imparting wisdom to the Georgian nation, to look for their own people”, stated Tsulukiani.
Also, she said that these kinds of words from a high-ranking official from Ukraine is surprising, although this is not the first time for Ukraine has made such kind of statements.
“It is better for them for Ukrainian officials to take care of their own people, who are in a very complicated situation now. From our side, we are doing our best to support Ukrainians”, she said.
Of course, we have a certain obligation to be patient because there is a war going on right now in Ukraine, but we also have an obligation to our own citizens as well. The first obligation, which we clearly fulfil and will fulfil in the future, is that, contrary to the wishes of some Ukrainian friends, we will never allow hostilities in the country”, stated the minister.
