Irakli Karseladze reviews the ongoing infrastructural projects running with World Bank’s support

Tbilisi:  Irakli Karseladze , the Georgian Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure, on sustainable development in Europe and Central Asia Region, Regional Director of World Bank (WB), Same Naguib Vaba and World Bank Urban Development. as well as Christophe Push, the head of natural disaster management and land reform.

 The meeting was also attended by David Tabidze, Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure and Regional Director of the World Bank in South Caucasus.

 The parties of the meeting reviewed the infrastructural projects completed, ongoing and planned with the support of the World Bank. The Minister elaborated about the progress of the implementation of ongoing projects within the framework of World Bank programmes, municipal and tourism infrastructure, cultural heritage and community-important facilities. He also stressed the importance of these projects for sustainable and equal development of regions of the country.

Girakli Karseladze shared information with World Bank representatives about the progress of the state program “Renewed Regions” started on the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia. The Minister noted that under the program some of the projects that have been planned in 63 municipalities of the country have been completed and some are in the process of completion. Also, he talked about the objectives and objectives of the program, planning and implementation processes.

The third Naguib Waba has positively assessed the progress of both the World Bank-supported and ongoing projects under the state programme. He emphasized the importance of experience gained in Georgia in implementing projects and expressed his willingness to provide further support in the form of new programs. World Bank representatives also noted that opportunities to share Georgian experience with several countries in terms of infrastructure projects development are being discussed.

 With the asssitance of the World Bank, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has been executing several programs since 2011. The programs include development projects of basic (road, water supply and other) infrastructure, tourist attractions, cultural heritage monuments and other municipal infrastructure.
