Tbilisi: PM Garibashvili chairs National Security Council meeting

Tbilisi: National Security Council meeting was held under the leadership of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili.Important trends in global and regional security environment and challenges facing Georgia were discussed at the meeting.The process of renewal of conceptual documents at the national level was also discussed.

Tbilisi:  The National Security Council meeting was held under the leadership of Georgian Prime Minister,  Irakli Garibashvili. Important trends in global and regional security environment and challenges facing Georgia were discussed at the meeting.The process of renewal of conceptual documents at the national level was also discussed.

It should be noted that as of February this year, the final version of the National Security Concept was ready to be presented to Parliament, but given the drastically changed security environment, the document is being carried out with the existing security environment or to be brought to compliance.

At the same time, active work is underway to update the Threat Assessment Document and National Defence Strategy, which will also address the changing security environment and existing challenges.

Participants of the session discussed the process of reforms in the field of critical infrastructure protection and the process of creating a conceptual and legal framework. Among them, attention was focused on the process of making sectoral prescriptions of critical infrastructure facilities.

Secretary of the Council, Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri and permanent members of the Council: Minister of Defense Juansher Burchuladze, Minister of Finance Lasha Khutsishv Lee, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili, Head of State Security Service Grigol Liluashvili, Chief of Intelligence Service Shalva Lomidze and Head of Defence Forces Giorgi Matiashvili attended the meeting.
