The ultimate goal of the reform is to prevent diseases and, when needed, manage them as effectively as possible. The Ministry of IDPs, Labor, Health and Social Protection worked with the World Health Organization (WHO), other international partners and experts on the key document.

At the 2-day event, the First Deputy Minister of IDPs, Labor, Health and Social Welfare spoke about the importance of the primary healthcare guide. The action plan outlines cities and villages, services needed for equal access to primary health care, services or procedures for the diagnosis and management of existing chronic diseases or emerging medical problems, including outpatient examinations.

Policymakers, partners and industry experts agreed on some changes to ensure more flexibility and efficiency of the document.

“With this reform, primary healthcare is actually becoming an advanced role in the whole system, ensuring continuous patient treatment and equal access to it nationwide,” said Tamar Gabunia.
