Tbilisi: The Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, during his official visit to Rome signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri. The Tbilisi City Hall, noted that the purpose of the memorandum is to promote the deepening of friendly relations, to plan common events, to share experience in solving urban, economic or environmental problems.

Under this, the Urban development and regeneration, improvement of the environment, culture, inclusion, innovation are the issues in which the capitals of Italy and Georgia will cooperate more closely from today.

“I am glad to host the official delegation of Tbilisi under the leadership of Kakha Kaladze. This is another proof of friendly relations between our cities and people. From today we have the opportunity to cooperate more closely. The signing of the memorandum is a good basis for cooperation in matters which is common to us.”

I mean culture, environmental protection, urban communities. We represent cities with old and great traditions that go back centuries, and I am glad that we have to deepen these relations”, said Roberto Gualtieri.

The mayor of Tbilisi summed up his visit to the Italian capital and called it a success.

“It was a very important visit from the point of view that we signed a memorandum of cooperation with Rome. I am very glad that these relations are deepening and becoming even more interesting. This year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Italy, however, I think that deepening relations between cities and cooperation in different directions will give us even more opportunities. Within the framework of this memorandum, we will be able to cooperate in various directions. It will be culture, urban direction, infrastructure.

Of course, we will share the great experience that Rome has and various projects will be implemented in our capital with the best examples.

Within the framework of this visit, we also learned about a very important project that is being implemented in Rome. This is the construction of a new metro station line, where 30 stations will be built. The implementation of this project costs several billion euros. It started in 2006 and will be completed in the next 2 years”, said Kakha Kaladze.
