Economic Council discusses volumes of FDI in Georgia under PM Garibashvili

Tbilisi: The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Gharibashvili headed the meeting of the Economic Council, where the members discussed the volume of foreign direct investments in Georgia. It was noted that the volume of foreign direct investments implemented in Georgia in the third quarter of 2022 amounted to US $ 745.3 million, which is twice as much as the third data of 2021.

The meeting discussed ongoing and planned major infrastructure projects in the country, including the development of ports, airports and logistics infrastructure.

The ongoing and planned energy projects in the country were also discussed, as well as the construction of high-efficiency and environmental-friendly thermal power plants in the country to increase the country’s energy independence.

They also discussed ongoing processes in tourism. Attention has been raised regarding the preparation of infrastructure suitable for the winter tourist season.

The Prime Minister spoke about the new infrastructural projects planned for winter resorts and noted that a new ramp is planned to be built in Gudauri, a capacity of 1800 passengers per hour and 2800 meters long.

 In addition, according to the Prime Minister, a snow removal system will be installed on Gudauri’s two sliding tracks, which will make it even more comfortable for vacationers.

Council members discussed the process of citrus harvesting in Adjara. It was noted that this year according to forecast data, up to 45 thousand tons of citrus is expected.

 More than 20 citrus processing plants will receive export tangerines during the season; as for non-standard tangerines, the Kobuleti canning factory will receive an unlimited quantity.

As of today, up to 4,500,000 tons of standard mandarin has already been exported, while non-standard citrus has been received and processed 200 tons.
