Tbilisi: Under the leadership of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, a working meeting was held in the Government Administration regarding the World Championship in Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding in Bakuriani, Georgia.
The organizational and preparatory issues of the championship were discussed at the meeting. It was noted that important infrastructure has been provided in Bakuriani to make the resort ready to host the World Cup.
Up to 2000 international guests have already been registered, who will arrive in Bakuriani from 42 countries. In parallel with the championship, entertainment events will be held permanently organized by the government.
The World Championship is held in Bakuriani with the support of the Georgian Government, the Mountain Track Agency and the Georgian Ski Federation. The championship will be held from February 16 – March 5, 2023, under the auspices of the International Skiing Federation (FIS).
There will be 30 competitions in 7 species at the World Championship.
Within the framework of the World Championship project, three new ramps were built in Bakuriani, 29 km artificial snowfall systems, two artificial water reservoirs, 307,000 cubic meters in total, 6 new racing tracks, special equipment and an inventory of the hazards was purchased.
About 300 million GEL investment has been made.
