Georgia: Tea Akhvlediani meets delegation of ETO Parliamentary Assembly Committee

Tbilisi, Georgia: Tea Akhvlediani, The Minister of State of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, held a meeting with the delegation of the ETO Parliamentary Assembly Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs.

During the meeting, the Minister of State thanked the delegation members for their strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia in the internationally recognized borders of ETO and emphasized the visit of the Parliamentary Assembly in Georgia Help, especially in conditions where international human rights monitoring missions are not allowed to enter occupied regions.

Tea Akhvlediani informed the guests about the priorities of both directions of the reconciliation and inclusion, civil equality and integration policy, achievements and future visions within the jurisdiction of the State Minister’s apparatus.

The meeting discussed in detail the severe legal and humanitarian situation in the occupied regions of Georgia, including violations of the fundamental rights of the local population, ethnic discrimination, free movement including restrictions, illegal removal of wires and other artificial barriers along the occupation line, illegal detention of Georgian citizens, and prohibition of education in the native language.

While talking about the implementation of reconciliation and inclusion policy, special attention was paid to the course of the strategic review process and views of the said policy, which will meet the interests and needs of the conflict-affected population Bze is based on new approaches, goals and priorities. 

The State Minister also reviewed activities under different spheres of involvement and efforts to restore trust among artificially divided communities.

Tea Akhvlediani introduced the delegation to the members of the year 2021-2030, approved by the Government of Georgia. The priorities, goals and objectives of the State Strategy for Civil Equality and Integration, as well as the results achieved and future plans within the mentioned policy. The involved parties have agreed to further deepen the cooperation.
