Tbilisi: On the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia, a new program is starting, which plans to build and rehabilitate 885 kindergartens in Georgia, in particular: 330 new kindergartens will be built and 555 existing kindergartens to be rehabilitated.
As the infrastructure ministry updated, the construction-rehabilitation program of kindergartens in Georgia, will be implemented in several stages, for which ,about 1.3 billion GEL will be used from the state budget.
Educational infrastructure is one of the priority of the country. According to the data of 2023, 1,668 early and preschool education institutions are functioning in Georgia, involving 154,501 educators and 17194 teachers have been employed.
Despite large-scale construction and rehabilitation works carried out in recent years, challenges related to the infrastructure of gardens remain, for which, on the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia, a new program is being launched. 100 million GEL for the first phase of works is already provided in the 2023 budget.
Construction-rehabilitation will be carried out step by step. Development of kindergarten infrastructure across the country is planned according to information and priorities provided by local governments.
Construction and rehabilitation works will be carried out by the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia.
Under the new program, kindergartens will be built and rehabilitated in accordance with modern standards. Indoor and outdoor gardens, recreational areas, communications and wet areas will be provided.
“The gardens will be fully adapted for people with special needs.” – stated the Georgian Regional Development and Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze said about this while talking to journalists after the government session.
