“Georgian wine really has a great potential”, says Levan Ujmajuridze, Director of Science&Research Center

Tbilisi: The Representatives of the international media visited Jighaura base, where Levan Ujmajuridze, the Director of the Science and Research Center of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, met with leading specialists, critics and journalists in the field of world wine-winery.

During the visit, Director of the Science and Research Center Levan Ujmajuridze informed representatives of the international media from famous and influential publications, wine experts and critics about the current and future scientific and practical activities of the Scientific and Research Center, the search-restoration of Georgian vine varieties, wine establishment and research on them.

“The visit of leading specialists, critics and journalists of the world wine industry to Georgia is another important activity in raising awareness about Georgian vine and wine culture, which will help to disseminate information about the uniqueness of ancient, local Georgian grape varieties worldwide,” – said the Director of the Science and Research Center Torma.

“Georgian wine really has a great potential. We got acquainted with the production of Kvevri wine in Georgia. The unique collection of Jighaura is really a discovery for us. “We have a great desire to get to know Georgian winemaking and winemaking even closer,” – Douglas Blyde, a journalist from the UK.

It is noteworthy that in Jighaura’s collection collection, up to 470 Georgian and 350 foreign grape varieties are preserved, including unique and rare Georgian grape varieties collection.

The initiative to invite leading specialists, critics and journalists from different countries of the world belongs to Georgian businessman, founder of the company “Askaneli”, Gocha Chkhaidze.
