Georgia: The Parliament of Georgia has initiated the ‘Defence Code’ that has been prepared by the Ministry of Defence of Georgia. A working meeting was held on the initiative of the Defense and Security Committee regarding the project, which included a number of important decisions and amendments.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Defence of Georgia, Grigol Giorgadze, introduced the main directions of the “Defence Code”. The participants of the meeting also planned important reforms and gave detailed answers to the queries.
The representatives of the Georgian legislative body also expressed their views on the project. According to the Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of Georgia, Irakli Beraya, the recently introduced ‘Defence Code’ of Georgia is an important legislative initiative in terms of strengthening the country’s defence skills and organizing the legal basis of the defence.
The project also focuses on the transition of military service, which fundamentally changes and makes the compulsory military service fully adapted to defence goals, along with the provision of important guarantees for military social security.
The Ministry of Defense of Georgia initiated the draft of the Defense Code at the end of 2022. The meetings have already been held in the Ministry of Defense with the State Agency for Religious Affairs, the Public Ombudsman’s Apparatus, the Council of Religions and representatives of various religious confessions on the news provided by the Code.
