16 Georgian wine companies participate in Foodex Japan 2023

Tbilisi: With the financial and organizational support of the Georgian National Wine Agency, 16 Georgian wine producing companies are participating in the food and beverage exhibition “Foodex Japan 2023” in Tokyo, Japan.

 “Participation in the said exhibition is the best way to promote, enter the market and establish products in Japan, as well as find distributor Japanese companies.” 

“FOODEX JAPAN” has been held since 1976 and is considered one of the largest exhibitions in Asia. Georgian wine producing companies have been allowed to participate in “Foodex Japan” since 2015. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, after 2019, this will be the largest presentation of Georgian wine in Japan”, said David Tkemaladze, Deputy Chairman of the National Wine Agency.

 It is noteworthy that, during the exhibition, representatives of the National Wine Agency will hold meetings with Japanese marketing and consulting companies.

 Japan is one of the strategic markets of Georgian wine, where, with the support of the National Wine Agency, the first large-scale presentation of Georgian wine took place in 2014. In the following years, also with the support of the National Wine Agency, Georgian wine companies participated in the exhibitions “Foodex Japan” and “Wine and Gourmet Japan”, tours of Japanese wine professionals and media representatives were organized in Georgia and presentation of Georgian wine-tastings in different cities of Japan.

 As a result of the activities carried out, Georgian wine exports to Japan are growing; according to 2022 data, 231 thousand liters of wine exported from Georgia to Japan, 68% more than the 2021 figure.
