Why don’t you do it? asks PM Irakli Garibashvili to European nations urging Georgia to stop trade with Russia

Tbilisi: The Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili responded to the European Nations asking Georgia to cut-off trade and economic relations with Russia.

PM Irakli Garibashvili stated, “I want to tell you one important fact, after the August war, here everything collapsed, people died, we lost territories, nothing was reviewed by anyone, politics continued as it was and if you are wondering how valuable goods did the EU buy from Russia?” 2.5 trillion dollars worth of money. What sanctions were they talking about?

That our territories are occupied today and that we had a war, nobody did anything about it – no sanctions, we had to listen to it. I also remember in 2019 when Russia suspended flights, an acting ambassador to the EU came out calling Russia to resume flights.

Today I understand and sympathize with Ukraine and Ukrainians. We all want this disaster to end, and because there is war and disaster in Ukraine, because of this, if we have to destroy, destroy, there must be a war, there should be a second front, our cities will be bombed, turn into a polygons and do not let our people breathe, where is the logic?

When I ask our European friends, you tell me to stop trade, economy, renew flights, why don’t you do it?! Why don’t you just stop trading?! Why did they give three hundred billion to Russia last year?!

Further, PM Irakli Garibashvili added that I have a question as a citizen, who wants a country to become a member of the EU, when we are told not to fly, do not want trade, do not want tourists?! Then they will tell us not to let tourists in. I don’t want to continue, I think our people already understand everything.

We want peace, stability, prosperity and unity of our country. There will be many temptations on the road, but I believe that with God’s help, we will go through it in peace and lead our country to peace”
