Georgia: Maka Botchorishvili attends Conference of European Affairs Committees in Stockholm
Tbilisi: The plenary session of the Conference of European Affairs Committees of National Parliaments of the European Union ended in Stockholm, in which the Georgian delegation led by Maka Botchorishvili, the Chairman of the European Integration Committee of Georgia also participated.
At the plenary session, a declaration was received stating that the European Affairs Committees of the European Union national parliaments support the expansion of the EU to Ukraine, Western Balkans, Moldova and Georgia and affirming that stability in neighboring countries is a guarantee of the security of the whole of Europe.
At the conference, Maka Botchorishvili once again emphasized Georgia’s strong support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and noted that the war in Ukraine is a continuation of Russia’s aggressive policy in the Eastern European region.
“We have repeatedly experienced Russian aggression, which resulted in occupation, illegal military presence in regions of Georgia that continues to this day, and hundreds of thousands of people displaced.”
In the created geopolitical situation, threats are increased and the risk of possible military escalation is high, while we are still not protected by the NATO security umbrella and do not enjoy the EU economic solidarity. Georgian government ensures Georgia’s full compliance with EU sanctions.
Georgia is in close coordination with the relevant EU institutions and other states, which exercise control over the enforcement of sanctions,” said Maka Botchorishvili.
In the plenary session of COSAC, Georgian parliamentary delegation led by Maka Bochorishvili, the head of the Committee for Integration with Europe, took part in the special invitation of the EU chairman country, Sweden and the presidential trio (Czech Republic, Sweden, Spain). Levan Karumidze, the first deputy head of the Committee for Integration with Europe, also participated in the visit.
