Tbilisi: One rotation of the active summer project “Army Camp” at the Sergeants’ Academy named after Giorgi Ankshelidze has been completed. From Monday, “Army Camp” will host a new stream of children.
This year, the “Army Camp” organized in the Sergeant’s Academy will receive a total of 8 rotations of children and will be closed on August 18, the birthday of national hero Giorgi Ankshelidze, until next year.
Students from Tbilisi, Gori, Vale, Akhaltsikhe and Akhalkalaki schools visited the “Army Camp” during the mentioned rotation. On the last day of their stay in the camp, they were trained in mining in Kojori, and the 4th Infantry Brigade of Vaziani organized an exhibition of military equipment and weapons especially for children.
In the military unit, pupils were given the opportunity to shoot different weapons and compete with each other in the simulation center. At the end of the five-day program, the sergeants handed out gift bags to the children to commemorate Camp and had fun with them.
As the participants of the camp noted, “The days spent at the Army Camp were full of unforgettable adventures, news and physical activities for the children.” With the help of sergeant-instructors, students were given competitions in fire drill, crossing the front line, orienteering running and navigation.
Children also participated in first aid and self-defense exercises and created paintings depicting the life of Georgian soldiers.
“Army Camp” – for unforgettable adventures started with the initiative of the Department of Strategic Communications and Public Relations of the Ministry of Defense and is being implemented for the first time this year together with the Ministry of Education and Science.
It must be noted that the project aims to raise patriotic spirit in the younger generation, promote healthy lifestyle and raise awareness about the Georgian army.
