Construction of residential complex for IDP families begins in Borjomi

Tbilisi: The Construction of a residential complex has begun in Borjomi, which will be used to provide residence and settle the displaced families in the country. The Minister of Labor, Health and Social Protection of Georgia, Zurab Azarashvili, inspected the jobs of refugees from the occupied territories.

According to Zurab Azarashvili, as soon as the project is over, the displaced families will be given modern standards, newly renovated apartments and the issue of compact settlements for the displaced will be completely solved in Borjomi.

In the residential complex, a new apartment will be handed over to 150 families in 2025. The budget of the project is more than 15 million GEL.

In order to create decent living conditions for displaced families, on the initiative of the Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, large-scale construction works are underway in 5 cities of Georgia – housing complexes are being built in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Zugdidi and Borjomi.

It is noteworthy that under the project, by the end of 2025, more than 7000 families will be given new apartments, while 6,000 families will be satisfied under the “Rural House” program. 

It is noteworthy that 13,000 families will be provided with living space in total. More than 900 million GEL has been allocated for this project.

Deputy Minister Ilia Gudushauri, Newly appointed Director of the Agency for Refugees, Ecomigrants and Livelihood Provision Zurab Utiashvili, Majority Deputy of Akhaltsikhe, Adigeni, Borjomi and Aspindza Anton Obolashvili, Mayor of Borjomi Otar Arbolishvili and Chairman of the City Council David Zaalishvili also got familiarized with the ongoing construction works at the settlements.
