Georgia: As a result of operative-investigative measures and investigative actions, the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have recently seized illegal firearms as well as ammunition in Tbilisi, Shida Kartli and Imereti and detained four people.

Officers of the Isani-Samgori Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department detained L.B., born in 1993, who had been convicted of various crimes in the past. Arrested for illegal purchase and storage of firearms.

Law enforcement officers seized a pistol, a pistol and seven cartridges in the form of evidence as a result of a search of the accused’s apartment based on a judge’s ruling.

Officers of the Shida Kartli Police Department, as a result of joint investigative actions with the Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department, arrested two persons – R.F., born in 1971. And K.G., born in 1980, was arrested on charges of illegal purchase, possession and group sale of firearms based on a judge’s ruling.

The investigation revealed that the defendants bought nine pistols at different times, some of which were fired in groups illegally and some of which were illegally kept.

Officers of the Khashuri District Division of the Shida Kartli Police Department arrested G.N., born in 1994, on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition.

As a result of the search carried out in Khashuri, the accused’s house and auxiliary storerooms, the law enforcers seized a rifle as evidence. Abrez and eight cartridges.

The offences carry a maximum sentence of 3 to 11 years in prison.

The facts of illegal purchase, storage and sale of firearms and ammunition in groups are being investigated under the 3rd, 5th and 6th parts of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
