In total, 169 children have been killed by Russian troops in Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s military operation on Ukraine on February 24, according to reports provided by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the PGO’s press service reports, “More than 475 children suffered in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s Military aggression with Ukraine. In particular, 169 children were slain, and more than 306 were wounded. These numbers are not absolute, as work is underway in the areas of active hostilities as well as in the temporarily occupied and freed territories.”
Moreover, the largest number of victims has been reported in Kyiv region – 88, Kharkiv region – 38, Donetsk region – 81, Chernihiv region – 50, Mykolaiv region – 40, Zhytomyr region – 15, Sumy region – 16, Kherson region – 29, and Kyiv city – 15.
The body of a 15-year-old girl was found in a mass grave among adult victims in Bucha, Kyiv area.
On April 7, one child was killed in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and two others aged 4 and 16 were injured in the Russian shelling of a boat carrying 14 individuals.
Furthermore, two minors were injured in the Russian shelling of Severodonetsk, Luhansk region on April 6 and 7.
Additionally, regular airstrikes and the Russian armed forces shelling of civilian infrastructure and residential areas damaged 928 educational institutions. Of which 84 were completely destroyed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24. Russian soldiers have used artillery, multiple rocket launchers, and ballistic missiles to attack and destroy major infrastructure sites, as well as residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages.
