Georgia: Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, said on social media that he is ready to visit Ukraine on invitation from his Ukrainian counterpart Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

“I’ve had intensive and friendly communication with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, over the past several days. The Ukrainian government and people’s heroism to defend their nation and the country’s future is very exemplary,” said Papuashvili.

In response to the invitation by Stefanchuk, Papuashvili said that supporting Ukraine and its people was “our moral and historic duty”, and we will honour and fulfil this commitment.

“Today, we’ve plans to talk more regarding the ongoing Russian war in Ukraine and about the European future of our nations,” Papuashvili said.

Moreover, he said he’d talk to Stefanchuk about measures to improve coordination “to prevent the difficulties we’ve seen recently,” allegedly referring to the ambassador’s recall and Kyiv’s claims that Tbilisi is supporting Russian smuggling.

“This would further bolster the historic friendship between our countries and the people,” Papuashvili said.

He stated that he has previously confirmed his willingness to travel and underlined Georgia’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Moreover, Papuashvili had previously stated that he would not visit Ukraine unless it provided evidence for its “unfounded” allegations, which was followed by Stefanchuk’s scathing article.
