Georgia: The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, visited a family greenhouse in the village of Kvemo Nikozi within the framework of the Shida Kartli regional tour.
The head of government was hosted on the spot by host farmers, Elza Okropiridze and Vladimer Mariamidze, who have 1.10 hectares of land registered in the village of Kvemo Nikozi and are benefiting from the Prime Minister-initiated “Agricultural Land Owners Support Program”.
The Prime Minister also met with farmers living in the village near the greenhouse and discussed current state programs with them.
It is noteworthy that on the initiative of Irakli Garibashvili, on May 10, the “State Program for Supporting Agricultural Land Owners” was launched, under which more than 100,000 farmers have already received agricultural land.
As Otar Shamugia, the Minister of Environment and Agriculture, explained to the head of the government during the meeting with the farmers, more than 1200 farmers have already activated the agro-card, 340 of them have used the state aid and have cashed in the specialized shops.
Under the program, the subsidy will be given from 0.25 ha to 1.25 ha, including landowners / co-owners, at the rate of 300 GEL per 1 ha. According to the Prime Minister, more than 300 thousand small farmers will benefit from this, and the program budget is 35 million GEL.
Cash withdrawal at this stage is available in more than 300 specialized stores throughout Georgia. Beneficiary farmers will be served by more than 500 commercial facilities in stages.
The head of government was accompanied by representatives of the executive, legislative and local governments.
