London: Georgian Education Minister attends World Education Forum

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, is participating in the World Education Forum in London, where he met with the Minister of Education of Finland Lee Anderson.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the details of cooperation between Georgia and Finland in the field of general education.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli noted that in order to create a modern learning environment in Georgian schools, taking into account the best practices of different countries, including the Finnish experience, the process of introducing the third generation national curriculum is intensive, which means changing the teaching methodology and promoting the critical, complex thinking.

According to the Minister, the Finnish model of education is one of the most successful globally, and further integration of its components into the Georgian education system will be an essential step forward.

For his part, the Finnish Minister of Education spoke about the success of the Finnish system and expressed readiness to support the Ministry of Education of Georgia in the process of reforming the general education system.

At the end of the meeting, Mikheil Chkhenkeli invited the Minister of Education of Finland to Georgia.

112 education ministers from different countries are taking part in the World Education Forum in London. Forum participants will discuss the challenges in the field of education in the world and discuss ways to solve them.

The visit of the Georgian delegation to London was organized by the British Council.
