Georgian Education Minister congratulates students for winning European Physics Olympiad

Mikheil Chkhenkeli: “Congratulations on this well-deserved victory!” Your every achievement is the success of our country, and I am sure your generation, with outstanding abilities and uniqueness, will surely change the world for the better. I would like to thank the students, teachers and team leaders participating in the Olympiad for the awards they have won for our country and for once again representing Georgia with dignity on the world stage. I am sure that with your knowledge and passion, you will name our homeland many times. You are the pioneer of our country’s success, and I believe many more victories await you! “

Georgian students achieved significant success at the VI European Physics Olympiad held in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana on May 20-24. Five members of the Georgian national team participated in the International Olympiad, and each student was able to win a medal. It should be noted that out of 189 students from 27 countries, only 12 received gold medals, including two gold medals awarded to Georgian students.

The Georgian team was composed of students of Vladimir Komarov Tbilisi Public School of Physics and Mathematics and Andria Razmadze Kutaisi Public School No. 41. Gold medals were won by students of Komarov School Nikoloz Maltsev and Irakli Ugulava. 

Andria Manjavidze, a student of Komarov School, also won a silver medal, while Grigol Tsirekidze and Durmishkhan Kartvelishvili, students of Kutaisi Public School No. 41, won bronze medals.

It should be noted that the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the acting director of Kutaisi Public School No. 41, Genadi Margvelashvili held a working meeting with Ian Kalda, the head of the Organizing Committee of the European Physics Olympiad.

The members of the committee expressed readiness to cooperate with the Georgian side and named 2025 as the probable date of the Olympics in Georgia.
