Georgia: Mikheil Chkhenkeli participates in award ceremony for winners of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarship programs

Georgia: Georgian Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Chkhenkeli took part in the award ceremony for the winners of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarship programs. The Minister addressed the audience and congratulated the scholars on their success.

Georgia: Georgian Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Chkhenkeli took part in the award ceremony for the winners of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarship programs. The Minister addressed the audience and congratulated the scholars on their success. 

The award ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Georgia Hubert Knirsch, DAAD Secretary General Kai Ziks, Head of the DAAD Regional Office in Georgia Gebfard Roel and representatives of the Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli thanked the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and personally the Ambassador of Germany for many years of fruitful cooperation in the development of all levels of education, science and culture.



The Minister noted that the partnership with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), as well as with other German organizations, are the best examples of productive cooperation.

According to him, the partnership between Georgian and German higher education institutions through the implementation of joint projects is especially emphasized. The cooperation of Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation and DAAD is of great importance in the development of science in Georgia.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has applied for 2022 scholarships for 209 people, of which 104 have been selected. The winners include German school graduates, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students from various universities, academic staff and postdoctoral students, including the winners of the Shota Rustaveli Foundation and DAAD Joint Scholarship Program.



The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has been represented in Georgia since 1988. The work of the DAAD Tbilisi Regional Office covers various areas. These include cooperation with Georgian and German higher education institutions, implementation of joint transnational programs with the involvement of the German side at the university level, dissemination of information on the study and research opportunities in Germany, as well as DAAD scholarship programs and funding in Germany, organizing competitions for DAAD scholarship programs, as well as advanced training courses and seminars for students and teachers, and more.
