Georgian Defence Minister meets foreign counterparts at NATO Headquarters

Within the framework of the NATO Defense Ministerial, the Minister of Defence of Georgia meets with foreign counterparts at the NATO Headquarters. Juansher Burchuladze held bilateral meetings with the Ministers of Defense of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Within the framework of the NATO Defence Ministerial, the Minister of Defence of Georgia meets with foreign counterparts at the NATO Headquarters. Juansher Burchuladze held bilateral meetings with the Ministers of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Minister of Defence of Georgia thanked his colleagues, Christine Lambrecht and Kaiza Olongren, for their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country on the path of integration into Euro-Atlantic structures.

During the meeting with the German Minister of Defense, Juansher Burchuladze emphasized the practical and political support of Germany towards the Georgian Defense Forces. According to him, the cooperation between the two countries in the field of defence, which spans decades, covers a wide range of issues and is developing successfully.



The Minister and his foreign counterparts reviewed current cooperation issues in the field of defence and outlined the prospects for future cooperation. Juansher Burchuladze also highlighted the important role of these countries in the successful implementation of the NATO-Georgia Essential Package (SNGP), the financial and human contribution made by Germany as a leading country and the leadership of various initiatives, and the great assistance and involvement of the Netherlands.

The Minister also recalled the support of Germany and the Netherlands in the formats of cooperation with the European Union, reaffirmed Georgia’s unwavering Western course, which implies full integration into Euro-Atlantic structures, and expressed hope that our country will receive EU candidate status.



One of the topics discussed at the meetings was security challenges in the region and the world.

The Defense Ministers once again condemned the developments in Ukraine and the large-scale military aggression of Russia and expressed solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
