“It is obvious that today the world is going through a difficult process of renewal. The work of law enforcement bodies is of particular importance In building a more just, democratic, peaceful international society, whether at the national level or within the framework of international partnerships”, Garibashvili noted.

The prime minister emphasized that development of the domestic prosecutor’s office was a “constant priority” of the ruling Georgian Dream party.

During our government, the independence of the prosecutor’s office has been recognized by the supreme law of the country – the constitution – and it was established as a completely autonomous body. Owing to the large-scale reforms, the prosecutor’s office of Georgia has been established as an effective, accountable and transparent institution and is constantly developing”, Garibashvili concluded.

The event unifies 300 prosecutors from 60 countries and representatives of the United Nations, European Union, Council of Europe, United States department of justice and high-level experts of criminal justice. The capital city, Tbilisi, hosted the event for the first time with the International Association of Prosecutors, which involves 183 prosecution bodies from 177 countries being the organizer of the event.
