CIU held Year’s Summary Event

Tbilisi: The (CIU)  of Republic of Georgia recently organised the summary event at the Faculty of Social And Humanities on December 20, 2023. This was to highlight the main achievement of the Faculty for cureent Year achieved by the Department.

It is to be specifically mentioned that the event was opened by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty, Ekaterine Chalaganidze; he also introduced the audience to the main achievements of the Faculty for cureent year Year.

On this occasion the opening of the auditorium, named after Georgian national hero Giuli Shartava was celebrated at the university By organisers. At the same time prize-winning contestants of stories prepared about Giuli Shartava were awarded. 

The brilliant Students of the Journalism course, Lile Svanadze and Giorgi Pantsulaia, won first place in this competition. The award was handed over by Nana Amiranashvili, who is Dean of the Faculty of Social and Humanities.

A photo Competition was also held, that photo competition was held under the theme – “International Friendship at CIU” – the winner of the nomination for “Best Photo View” was a student of the Bachelor’s Program in Journalism. 

The Irakli Sharia became the winner of the “Best Photo Idea” nomination. It should be also noted that Guram Liluashvili also became the winner of the essay competition which was held on the topic of: “Democracy and freedom”. This award was delivered to her by Alika Guchua, the head of the Bachelor’s Program in International Relations.

At this significant event, a magazine prepared by the students of the Bachelor’s Program of Journalism called “Lakmus” – was launched under the leadership of lecturer Tsitsino Bukia, Giorgi Pantsulaia a student of the Bachelor’s Program of Journalism, was awarded for creating the Facebook page “Lakmus”.

Zaza Tsotniashvili head of undergraduate and graduate programs, discussed achievements of the year in journalism. The main area of focus was the cooperation of the Caucasus International University with the American Depaul University.

It should be further noted that the faculty changed its name in the current year. This year “Faculty of Social Sciences” became “Faculty of Social and Humanities”. The reason for the change was the addition of a new undergraduate program – “English Language Literature” – to the faculty. Lecturer Nana Parinos was apprised the attendee of priorities of the new undergraduate program at the event.

Nana Parinos international relations student, presented an English-language imitation play on the topic: “Georgia’s European perspective, goals and objectives”. Students were involved in this presentation. Another segmant was held as the nomination for the active student of the year, which was won by Dachi Danelia.

 The musical performance was also given by the students. The Students of the Journalism Bachelor’s Program, including Tornike Kurtanidze and Mariam Sandukhadze, as well as Demetre Vardukadze, a student of the Bachelor’s Program in International Relations, performed musical performances at the event.

At the conclusion of the event, the university mascot – Mr Shepard, congratulated students and distributed sweets to the audience.

It is worth mentioning that the summing-up activity of the year was led by the representatives of the dean of the faculty – Tamar Okujava and Marika Chkhenkeli. It was also attended by university leadership, administrative,academic staff and students.
