Alexander and his daughter had attended an event at a festival near Moscow where Alexander was scheduled to deliver a lecture on Sunday evening.

The “Tradition” festival is described as a family event for art admirers which takes place at the Zakharovo estate, where Russian poet Alexander Pushkin is known to have stayed once.

Alexander and Darya were scheduled to be leaving the event together. However, he had decided to travel separately from his daughter at the last instance.

The investigators at the site of the incident confirmed that the car was being driven by Darya, when the bomb exploded and claimed her life. According to the investigators, the explosive device that had been planted under the vehicle went off, setting the car ablaze. Further investigations are being carried out by forensic and explosive experts.

An official from Ukrainian has dismissed any kind of accusations of being involved in this killing. In his official statement, he said, “Ukraine, of course, has nothing to do with this because we are not a criminal state, which is the Russian Federation, and even less a terrorist state,” said Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky.

On the other hand, Russian spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said that if any link from Ukraine is found in this act, it shall be considered state terrorism.
