Georgia: Tea Akhvlediani meets Swiss Human Rights representative Jonas Belina

Tbilisi: Georgian Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, held a meeting with Jonas Belina, Representative of the Peace and Human Rights Department of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and Florian Von Konig, Representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Central Search Agency Florian von Konig.

Tbilisi: Georgian Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, held a meeting with Jonas Belina, Representative of the Peace and Human Rights Department of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and Florian Von Konig, Representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Central Search Agency.

Tea Akhvlediani introduced foreign guests to the work of the agency, both in the direction of reconciliation and inclusion, as well as civil equality and integration policy.

The meeting focused on the armed actions of the 1990s and the August 2008 Russian-Georgian war, the special burden of the search for the people who were missing as a result of the August 2008 war.

The Minister of State stressed the importance of the role and active involvement of the International Committee of the Red Cross as a neutral mediator and humanitarian participant in the program of searching for lost people and supporting their families in Georgia.

Noting the efforts made in intensive cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, special attention has been given to the findings and recommendations of the strategic study initiated by the International Committee of Red Cross on the initiative of the Red Cross on the process of transformation of the lost search program, which, largely means the state involved in the program Growing the role of systems gradually.

At the meeting, the Minister of State presented a presentation, in order to share detailed information, to determine the fate and location of the lost people in Georgia from 1990s to the present stage, the results achieved, existing challenges and future visions.

The representative of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland has positively evaluated the activities and efforts made with the help of the International Committee of the Red Cross in order to find the fate of the lost ones in Georgia.
The parties agreed to continue their close cooperation.

The meeting held in the government administration was attended by the head of the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Georgia Ann Montavoni, the ICRC ambassador to the Caucasus Anies Kotu and the advisor of the Swiss Embassy in South Caucasus Armin Riser.
