Georgian Premier visits Ukrainian students along with his children in Tbilisi
Georgia: Georgian Premier Irakli Garibashvili, along with his son and daughter on Wednesday, paid a visit to Tbilisi No. 41 Public School offering classes to a total of 211 Ukrainian students in their native language.
The head of the Government said Georgia is and will continue to be most supportive and attentive to Ukraine.
He also went on to say that the suffering that Ukrainians were feeling as a result of Russia’s invasion of their nation was “familiar to Georgians,” referring to the 2008 conflict between Russia and Georgia and the ongoing occupation of the country’s regions by Russian forces.
“I wish for our Ukrainian buddies to return home peacefully. We are expressing full support and showing attention to the people pf Ukraine stranded in Georgia following the invasion, and this support will continue in the future,” said Garibashvili.
He also added, “It is very symbolic that, today, my children and I met with first-graders.”
We are ranked #1 in the world among 190 nations for donating more than 500 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, a present of solidarity from the Georgian people to the Ukrainian people.
The Ministry of Education has provided all students with textbooks and notebooks, as well as assurances that they will be able to take advantage of preferential mobile internet packages.
Moreover, PM took a personal interest in the learning conditions in the Ukrainian-language sector, according to Government Administration, and interacted with students.
Minister Mikheil Chkhenkeli informed Garibashvili about the students’ conditions, highlighting the Ministry’s successful work in restoring the Ukrainian-language sector at the School for the first time since 2011.
Following an initiative by Georgia’s Prime Minister, Ukrainian students who are unable to continue their education in their home country due to hostilities are able to enrol in Georgian schools in a simplified manner, with 668 students of various ages already receiving classes in the capital Tbilisi and the regions.
