Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee during his visit to Finland met with representatives of think tanks, including the European Center for Combating Hybrid Threats, the Finnish Institute of International Relations and the Marti Ahtisaari Peace Center.

The meetings focused on the current situation in Georgia, including the difficult situation in the occupied territories and the prospects for resolving the conflict, as well as the ongoing peace talks between the South Caucasus, Armenia and Azerbaijan and the important role of Georgia in these talks.

The sides discussed the prospects of Georgia’s accession to the European Union and NATO.

Representatives of Finnish think tanks were interested in Georgia’s vision of how the current Russian aggression in Ukraine could change the security architecture of the Black Sea.

During the meetings, they talked about Finland’s application for membership in NATO and the problems that Finland has encountered along the way.

They also discussed Georgia’s foreign policy priorities and the difficulties of their implementation in the context of modern challenges.

“Finnish think tanks are quite actively involved in the ongoing conflicts in the region and, therefore, it was very interesting for them to see these issues from the perspective of Georgia,” – said Nikoloz Samkharadze.
