Russia-Ukraine War:  Kakha Gogolashvili, director of the European Research Centre, on Monday expressed the possibility of Russian President Vladimir Putin making use of nuclear weapons in its war against Ukraine and blackmailing the world. Putin’s actions can’t be predicted; moreover, he has “nothing to lose”, stated the director.

“Looking at the crimes Putin has committed, even after he loses the war, it is very unlikely for him to stay alive. The international community believes that the probability of the strategic nuclear weapons being used in this war is low, but even the usage of tactical weapons would inflict a lot of damage to Ukraine, first of all, and further put the whole world at great risk”, stated Gogolashvili.

Adding further, he said that in case Russia takes a step, the following response would be harsh.

In this case, NATO and the United States will be directly involved in the war. The results wouldn’t bring any good for Russia, nor for Putin, added Gogolashvili.

The director of the European Research Center stated that it was really important for the Russian entourage to stop President Putin.

“It is possible that the people around him, the military, representatives of the intelligence and secret services, will stop Putin from making such a decision. We can rely on that more than anything else. In any case, if nuclear weapons are used, there will be millions of victims. On the other hand, in the face of this blackmail, Ukraine will not retreat and give up the territories that had been occupied by Russia”, said Gogolashvili.
