Russia halts Black Sea grain exports, triggers food crisis concerns

Russia-Ukraine War:  Russia has withdrawn itself out of the United  Nations brokered grain agreement on Saturday. The Kremlin’s latest move has provoked an international outrage as it has once again triggered the global food crisis, following the  invasion of Ukraine. Russia publicized its suspension from the Black Sea deal after a blow on its fleet, which Moscow believes to be a drone attack from Ukraine.

With Moscow withdrawing it from the international deal, it has prompted the risk of famine in the  importing countries. Moreover, the inflation is likely to hit in the forthcoming times. The suspension of the Black Sea Grain Initiative implies cutting down of shipments from Ukraine, which is regarded as one of the world’s largest exporter oBrf grains, which it carries out from its Black Sea Ports,

The move has drawn criticism from the leaders at world stage. The U.S. President Joe Biden  has termed the move to be “purely outrageous” that would ultimately thrive starvation. Another top official from US has blamed Russia for using Grains as weapons against the world.

“Any act by Russia to disrupt these critical grain exports is essentially a statement that people and families around the world should pay more for food or go hungry,” stated the  Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The Russian  defence ministry has accused Ukraine of attacking its Black Sea fleet near Sevastopol on the Crimean Peninsula, using 16 drones . Moreover , the British Navy specialists assisted Ukraine in coordinating that act of terrorism as per Russia.

Russia has also accused the British navy of destructing the Nord Stream gas pipelines. However, the claims were dismissed by the British officials, calling it to be a statement meant to distract from the failures of Russian army in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the United Nations and G2O major economies to make a stronger comeback against the Russia’s irrational move.
