In addition to this, the Dominican Government will continuously engage with the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority and the International Civil Aviation Organization ( ICAO) throughout the project.

PM Skerrit termed the project to be a significantly high-scale project which has been the dream of every Dominican for the last 55-60 years. The project, which is considered as once in a lifetime opportunity for the country, after its completion, will play a pivotal role in boosting the job-creation process and the upliftment of the economy.

It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a project of such cost and magnitude. We have ensured from day one, starting from the feasibility study done by an American firm at various sites in Dominica, which recommended this site to be the most feasible one”, stated PM Skerrit.

As the Dominican Government envisages, the project will also prove beneficial for the agriculture as well as the hospitality industry, as with an enhanced influx of tourists, the demand for these facilities is sure to grow.

According to PM Roosevelt Skerrit, the cost of the project is estimated at around EC$ 1.3 Billion for the direct construction, excluding the cost of land acquisition. The Government of Dominica looks forward to the completion of the project within the anticipated timeframe and the development of the country into the tourism-based economy of the Caribbean.
