Zestafoni Municipality, Georgia: Magic happened on New Year’s night in a small town of Georgia, Terjola. A very old dream of the citizens of Georgia came true with twelve homeless families getting keys to their new homes.
This was the best and the most suitable gift given to them in the new year. The concept of giving homes to the homeless families this new year emerged within the framework of the Social Program of Homeless Citizens in Terjoli Municipality.
The idea of giving houses to the homeless started from the minds of Imereti State Trustee Levan Zalkaliani, which the mayor of Terjoli Municipality Manuchar Robakidze, and the chairman of the City Council Giorgi Baratashvili helped implement.
The gift which is the house keys was given to them at the New Year’s Concert by the mayor of Zestafoni Municipality. The Government congratulated the receivers on getting new homes. The families were very glad after receiving the house keys.
Due to this social program, 12 homeless families will be allowed to live in a warm and comfortable environment from that day. The government authorities of the town were also very satisfied after doing such good deeds.
Through this special program, homeless families will live in their new house from the very first day of the new year. The New Year’s concert event was successfully beneficial, especially for those 12 families. People enjoyed the New Year event and 41 families celebrated newcomers.
The families also expressed their special thanks to the government for the special event, they appreciated the work of the government and also appreciated the generous program.
Within the framework of the Social Program of Home Damaged Citizens in Terjola Municipality, the local government made a new year resolution that is to prioritize providing housing space for socially vulnerable families, especially with children with the money allocated from the budget.
These types of programs should be implemented in such towns of Georgia to improve the overall economic background of the whole country.
