123rd meeting of IPRM held at Gori Municipality

The 123rd meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) was held in the village of Ergneti, Gori Municipality, to discuss significant incidents recorded in the occupied region and along the occupation line since the previous meeting, the State Security Service (SSG) reported.

Gori Municipality, Georgia: The 123rd meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) was held in the village of Ergneti, Gori Municipality, to discuss significant incidents recorded in the occupied region and along the occupation line since the previous meeting, the State Security Service (SSG) reported.

The co-facilitators opened the first meeting of 2025 by welcoming the commitment of the participants to the IPRM format. Addressing his first IPRM as Special Representative, for the OSCE Chairpersonship of Finland Christoph Späti highlighted the importance of dialogue and of focusing on the situation of conflict-affected inclusively.

He expressed hope that established efforts and initiatives will be sustained by all participants, including the good practice of technical meetings on water-related issues.

At the moment there are six Georgian citizens illegally detained by the Tskhinvali occupying forces. Two of them, as it became known today, were sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison. Antadze said that Giorgi Mosiashvili has been in Tskhinvali prison the longest. In 2023, he was arrested in the Sachkhere region and charged with poaching, along with the so-called border crossing.

He also said that the discussions focused on the illegal “borderization” issue. According to Antadze in total, 11 cases of so-called borderization have been recorded in Kareli and Gori municipalities since the last meeting of IPRM in November 2024, including one in November, three in December, two in January, and five in February.

Participants in the meeting discussed humanitarian issues facing Indigenous people living along the occupation line and their solutions.

The next meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism was scheduled for April 3, 2025.
