A survey conducted by the International Institute of Sociology in Kyiv shows that about 84% of Ukrainians do not favor giving up territories even if the war lasts for a long time or if independence is threatened.
The survey was conducted by telephone from July 6 to 20. The results of the research are published by the BBC.Â
Since the previous poll, which took place in May, the number of people opposed to giving up the territory has increased by 2%. 10% of Ukrainians are steadily in favor of ceding territories to Russia.Â
“Even 77% of people living in the east of Ukraine say that they are against territorial concessions, only 16% are ready for concessions. In southern Ukraine, 82% of the population opposes the concession of land to Russia.” – notes the organization.Â
According to the May survey, 68% were opposed to ceding territories in the east of Ukraine, where intense hostilities are taking place. In the last 2 months, their number has increased to 77%.Â
“The results of the survey show that despite more fatigue, worsening of the socio-economic situation, heavy battles, and terrorist attacks, Ukrainians remain of the same opinion that they should not give in to the aggressor”, writes the International Institute of Sociology in Kyiv.Â
The survey was conducted on the entire territory of Ukraine, except for the occupied Crimea, and the population was not surveyed in the parts of Donbas not controlled by Ukraine. Citizens who have been volunteering to defend their homeland since the Russian invasion of Ukraine did not take part in the survey . The research error does not exceed 2.4%.Â
