Daily COVID-19 Updates: Georgia reports 1,365 new cases, 32 deaths

The Georgian health administration said that the nation has reported 1,365 new cases of COVID-19, with 9,790 recoveries and 32 fatalities in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past two weeks in Georgia stands at 22.6 per cent.

Overall, there are currently 64,894 active cases of Coronavirus throughout the country. 

Moreover, as per the figures given by the health administration, a total of 9,671 tests were conducted throughout the country within the last 24 hours, out of which 6,495 were rapid antigen tests, and the remaining 3,176 were PCR tests.

Since February 26, 2020, the country has recorded a total of 1,620,639 cases of Coronavirus. Out of 1,620,639 cases of COVID-19, a total of 1,539,413 patients have recovered, while 16,306 people have succumbed to it.

The new 1,365 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in several parts of the country.

• Imereti – 193 cases 
• Kvemo Kartli – 63 cases 
• Shida Kartli – 72 cases 
• Guria – 62 cases 
• Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 63 cases 
• Kakheti – 95 cases 
• Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 14 cases 
• Samtskhe-Javakheti – 17 cases 
• Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 21 cases

The new Omicron variant of Coronavirus accounts for about 85% of confirmed Covid-19 cases.

Furthermore, there are currently 2,913 patients who are undergoing treatment in hospitals in Georgia, while 61,981 people are undergoing treatment at home and by consulting their family doctors.

Besides this, 708 people infected with COVID-19 are in critical condition, out of which 245 people are on artificial ventilation. 

A total of 1,351,372 people have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country so far, while 1,274,996 individuals have been fully vaccinated, amounting to 43 per cent of the country’s adult population, and 224,278 have received booster shots of the vaccine. 

As of today, around 33.6% of the total population of Georgia has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which accounts for 12.5L of people. As of now, around 29L doses of vaccine has been given.
