In Georgia, the Ministry of Education and Science announced on Friday, March 18, that primary school kids affected by the current conflict in Ukraine will be enrolled in Georgian public and private schools in a simplified manner.

As on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched its invasion,  The Ministry stated Ukrainian students will be permitted to enrol in the same classes they had in their own country.

Moreover, those who seek to continue their education in Georgia should apply to the schools of their choice. Georgia, like other countries, will allow Ukrainian students to continue their education in public and private schools, in both official and non-official languages, according to the Ministry.

According to current legislation, foreign citizens must apply to the Georgian National Centre for Educational Quality Enhancement and present a variety of documents to receive the status of having received education in their home country before enrolling in a Georgian school. The requirement will not apply to Ukrainian schoolchildren.

Furthermore, detailed information is available on the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia’s toll-free number (995 32) 2 200 220.

Ukrainian children will be accepted free of charge in both private and public kindergartens in Tbilisi, with Tbilisi Mayor Kaladze declaring on March 16 that they will be given precedence during pre-school applications.

In addition, the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions of the Georgian Education Ministry will provide free psychosocial counselling to Ukrainian children and adolescents stranded in Georgia due to hostilities in their native country.

During these challenging times that the Ukrainians are currently facing, therapy and counselling will work to relieve their trauma and make them feel happier, healthier, and on a path to greater emotional and psychological well-being.
