The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili met with the ambassadors and representatives of the embassies of the EU member states.
The main topic of the meeting was the process of implementation of the 12 recommendations of the European Union.
The Chairman of the Parliament informed the ambassadors of the EU member states and the representatives of the embassies in detail about the schedule, within the framework of which it is planned to submit relevant legislative initiatives to the Parliament of Georgia and then adopt them.
“We met with the ambassadors and representatives of the embassies of the EU member states, we provided information on how the work related to the 12 recommendations is progressing. We have introduced the time schedule, which is quite clear and strict, when the relevant initiatives should be introduced and adopted in the third reading in the Parliament of Georgia. We also introduced the schedule of the meetings that have been held so far in committee, working group or other free formats. We talked about what is planned”, said Shalva Papuashvili after the meeting.
According to the Chairman of the Parliament, the formats stipulated by the Regulations of the Parliament of Georgia ensure the involvement of the parties in this process, and the participation of all interested parties is important in order to develop and discuss draft laws.
“We agree on one thing, that parliamentary formats are leading here. Committees, working groups, are formats provided by the rules of the Parliament of Georgia, which ensure involvement in this process, that the process itself is inclusive, and therefore, it is important that everyone who is interested in the European future of Georgia, is interested in the implementation of the Part 12 recommendation and is interested in being among them depolarization part, to be in these working groups and committee meetings in order to develop and further discuss draft laws. There is everyone’s agreement and unanimity on this, this is what democracy and democratic processes mean,” said Shalva Papuashvili.
Together with the Chairman of the Parliament, the Chairman of the European Integration Committee Maka Bochorishvili and the First Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Giorgi Khelashvili participated in the meeting.
